The technique is Indonesian: you dye the threads before you weave them, and the color bleeds where the bindings weren't quite tight enough, and that bleed is the design. Except I'm not woven in Bali. I'm hand-screen-printed in America on Belgian cloth, which means someone translated that controlled imperfection into ink and squeegee, one pass at a time, and made it look inevitable. My repeat is six inches vertical — the tightest geometry in the collection — which means I tile like architecture. Multi Greys on Tint is the colorway that works in the room you haven't designed yet — the one you're still arguing about with yourself at two in the morning. I settle that argument.
