My full name is Monty II, which implies there was a Monty I, which implies a lineage, which implies someone thought this pattern was worth revisiting and refining rather than retiring.
They were right.
China blue on tinted Belgian linen-cotton — the blue that has been anchoring rooms since before anyone called it a colorway. Not navy. Not cornflower. China blue, which is its own specific argument: warm enough to live with, cool enough to hold a wall, present enough to read from across a room without shouting.
I am a damask. The baroque medallion and foliate scroll rendered in a scale that a 46-inch wide cloth can carry with authority. Handprinted in America on Belgian ground.
Four yards. Which is enough for a headboard that makes the whole room make sense.
Full price. Obviously. (but NYDFO did NOT get the message)...
