Juan-les-Pins in the 1920s was where Americans went to invent the summer vacation - before that, the French Riviera was strictly a winter destination. Cole Porter wrote songs here. Picasso painted here. The jazz festival started here because someone thought the pine trees deserved a soundtrack.
