Victoria is a damask that has stopped pretending. The form is among the oldest in the Western decorative canon — silk-woven in medieval Damascus, codified in Renaissance Italy, embalmed in a thousand Victorian parlors — but Quadrille’s version redraws it in hand-screened linework with the looseness of a sketch, as if the pattern had decided that after eight centuries of formality it had earned the right to relax. Victoria claims the name honors not the queen but the era’s habit of putting damask everywhere and meaning it nowhere; this print means it.
