China Seas Fabric: Barbados Batik - Custom Windsor / Brown on 100% Linen

Barbados was the most profitable colony in the British Empire for most of the 17th century -more valuable, acre for acre, than any territory England had ever held. It was also the point of transfer for the largest forced migration in human history. The island absorbed everything: Arawak geometry, West African textile traditions, British mercantile ambition, Dutch sugar technology. What came out the other side was not any of those things separately. It was something new.

Barbados Batik has that energy: a graphic floral so densely packed it reads almost as geometry, printed on 100% Belgian linen in custom Windsor and brown on white. The 3½-inch repeat gives the motif no room to be subtle. It declined the offer anyway.
