China Seas Fabric: Malay Batik - Watermelon on Tinted Belgian Linen / Cotton

Let's get something out of the way: I am not subtle. I have never been subtle. Subtlety is for fabrics that are hoping you won't notice them, and I am not that fabric. I am forty-five yards of watermelon batik on Belgian linen and I walked into this room like I own the building.

China Seas printed me because someone remembered what a market in Penang looks like at noon - the part where the light hits dyed cloth and the color is so committed to itself that you either surrender or leave. Interior designers use words like "statement piece" when they mean me, which is fine, but I prefer to think of myself as the piece that renders all other statements unnecessary. Forty-five yards means there's enough for the project you've been afraid to start. I'll be here. I'm not going anywhere. I'm watermelon. We don't fade.
