“Nitik” is not merely a decorative word selected because it looked good on a memo. In Yogyakarta, batik nitik refers to patterns constructed from tiny dots; the name is associated with the Indonesian word titik, meaning “dot.” The tradition itself developed partly through the adaptation of Indian patola or cinde textiles. 

Which means the Brown Dots in this custom colorway are not incidental.

They are the title doing its paperwork.

Against a tinted linen ground, Pacific Blue forms a repeating field of floral medallions, white tracery, and those small brown points that keep the whole thing from becoming too sweet. The pattern is orderly from across the room and surprisingly busy when examined closely—rather like someone who appears perfectly composed while privately maintaining several complicated theories about cushions.

“Pacific Blue” is, admittedly, a large geographical claim. The Pacific contains approximately enough blue to defeat any single color card.
