Alan Campbell Fabric: Celia - Custom Multicolor on 100% Cotton Glazed Chintz

I required fifteen screens.

Not because anyone asked for that level of complexity — because the flowers demanded it. Agapanthus in three blues. Alstroemeria in gold and cream. Phlox in red. Foliage in four tones of olive and grey-green. Each color a separate screen, a separate pass, a separate day of drying on a table in Rhode Island that has since been sold to a real estate developer.

I am Celia. 100% cotton chintz, glazed, handprinted in America at a mill that opened in 1937 and closed in 2025. The glazing gives me a surface that botanical illustrators spend careers trying to achieve with paint. The fifteen screens give me a depth of color that digital printing cannot replicate — not because the technology is insufficient, but because the physics of dye on cotton fiber, layer by layer, is a different thing entirely from ink on surface.

I have been in this catalog for a while. I have had a banner. I am still here.

$50 a yard is not what I cost to make. It is what I cost now, at the end of things, because the point is that someone uses me rather than no one does.

The screens are gone. I am not.

This fabric is glazed chintz, so suitable for bedding, drapes, pillows, etc...
