Some patterns whisper. Montego walks into the room with a tray of drinks and assumes the light will be good. The zigzag is not quite a chevron and not quite a lattice; it has more snap than either, as if geometry had been persuaded to loosen up and go on holiday. In this magenta colorway, it feels sun-struck, high-energy, and entirely unembarrassed by pleasure. If the name came from Montego Bay, the association is earned: this is a pattern with heat in it, a pattern that expects shutters to be open, a ceiling fan turning lazily overhead, and somebody sensible enough to pair white upholstery with something bright.
