China Seas Fabric: Raffles - Custom Red on Tinted Belgian Linen / Cotton

You walk into the Long Bar at Raffles Hotel and the fans are turning slowly overhead and someone has already ordered you a Singapore Sling and you realize you've been here before, even though you haven't.

Raffles. Named for Sir Stamford, yes, but really named for the idea of Raffles - the colonial hotel where Somerset Maugham wrote in the corner and everyone had a past they weren't discussing. The pattern knows this. Custom red on tinted linen - not fire engine, not tomato, but the red of old leather chairs in a library where the books have actually been read.

Ten yards available. Enough for the curtains in the room where you're finally writing the novel.

If Rudyard Kipling had stayed at the Raffles in 1950 instead of 1889, he wouldn't have complained about the food; he would have written an entire chapter about this ikat. It’s a 14-inch repeat of pure, disciplined elegance—the kind that Somerset Maugham would have leaned against while inventing his next plot.

This Raffles pattern is the visual equivalent of a well-mixed drink at the Writers Bar: it’s structured, slightly blurred at the edges, and entirely intoxicating. It’s for the room that wants to feel like a National Monument without being a museum—a place where the linens are heavy, the lighting is soft, and history is always just one Singapore Sling away.
