My name is Georgia, and I refuse to be only one thing.

I am a state and a country. I am a checkerboard that couldn't choose between two purples, so I kept both: deep violet in one square, lilac in the next, back and forth across fifty-two inches of Belgian linen, handprinted in the USA.

Look where the squares meet. That white isn't paint. It's the bare ground showing through, and it makes a star at every corner, as if the light decided to live in the seams. Most patterns hide their joins. I made mine the brightest part.
