Ferns Uni in seafoam on white is a grace note, not a sentence — a pale scatter of fronds that reads as light before it reads as pattern. From across the room it's almost weather: the particular green you get when sun comes through leaves and lands on a white wall. Up close, the hand of the screen is right there, one color laid down with the restraint that one color demands.

Two yards is not a shortfall here. It's the dose. A pair of pillows. One slipper chair, seat and inside-back. A lampshade that throws faint fern-shadows when the bulb is warm. A short pelmet over a window that doesn't need much. Enough, at 54 inches wide and two yards long, to let an 18-inch repeat resolve four times and then stop — which, with something this quiet, is precisely where you'd want it to stop. More seafoam fern would be a statement. Two yards is a good idea.
