Potalla takes its name from the palace — the Potala in Lhasa, that massive white-and-red fortress rising from the Tibetan plateau like something the mountain grew on its own. Alan Campbell's pattern doesn't reference the architecture directly, but it shares the scale and the nerve: oversized florals and scrolling vines that sprawl across forty-eight inches of Belgian linen-cotton with the particular confidence of a design that was drawn big from the start, not a small motif scaled up. The half-drop repeat at twenty-five inches means the pattern never quite lines up the way your eye expects it to — each row shifts, which gives the composition a sense of movement that a straight repeat can't achieve. It's the difference between wallpaper and a garden.
Custom greens and rust on a tinted ground is the colorway that earns the word "summery" without deserving the word "casual." The greens run from olive to leaf, the rust supplies warmth and weight, and the tinted linen-cotton ground ties it all to earth rather than letting it float. The lot tag says OUTLET A, which means this came directly from the vault. On forty-eight-inch goods with a half-drop repeat, pattern matching takes a little more attention than a straight repeat — your workroom will know what to do. An Alan Campbell bestseller in a custom colorway, hand-printed in the USA. 22 yards - enough to create a room like the one in the photo!
