Suncloth is a synthetic fabric designed for more rugged use.  However, continuous exposure to salt or chorinated water or to extreme outdoor conditions may cause fading.

Please note that colors may not represent accurately in photo. Additional photo(s) provided to show scale, not colorway. All sales are final, and we do not send cuttings for approval.

This is the one. If China Seas has a signature — the pattern that gets attributed, collected, and described to decorators over lunch — it's Arbre de Matisse: the branching tree drawn in that loose, confident hand, named for the master of the cut-out because the vines move the way his scissors did. It has been printed continuously for half a century, photographed in more published rooms than we can count, and it has never once needed updating, because it was never in fashion — it was simply correct. What you're looking at is the Reverse: blue ground, white tree — the negative of the classic, the version for people who want the icon at midnight instead of noon.

And this lot is the rarest kind of practical: fourteen continuous yards on Suncloth, the pattern in full acrylic armor. Which means the tree that usually lives on sofas in Palm Beach living rooms can go where fabric is normally afraid to — the loggia, the pool furniture, the banquette on the boat, the cushions that stay out all August. Same hand printing, same USA tables, weatherproofed. Fourteen yards does an entire outdoor room in one dye lot, and when it's gone, this exact blue is gone with it. The tree has spent fifty years indoors. Someone finally gets to let it out.
