Charade is the "Grand Dame" of the collection who is currently hiding a gin and tonic behind a first-edition copy of Purity and Danger. She is a large-scale pink polka dot that refuses to be "cute."

To call Charade a polka dot is like calling a 1962 Imperial Crown Southampton a 'car.' It is a massive, pink, rhythmic deception. Named after the movie where nothing is what it seems, this dot is actually a liminal object (see: Mary Douglas)—it occupies the space between 'whimsical' and 'intimidating.'

It was born in that era one might walk into a room and demand to be called 'Bubbles Berkowitz' without a hint of irony. Charade doesn't ask for permission; it arrives. It is the dot that Sterling Hayden would have stared at while contemplating the existential weight of a Bruce Weber shoot."
