DOUBLE CROSS MULTI — Custom Camel II / Jungle on Tinted 100% Linen

Despite the name, this is the most trustworthy fabric in the store. Double Cross Multi is an allover of plump X's — crosses doubled, then multiplied — marching in alternating columns of jungle green and camel on a warm tinted ground. And since an X is also, in the diplomatic language of letters, a kiss, we are obliged to report that this fabric is technically covered in thousands of them. Hand-printed in the USA on 100% European-woven linen, 51 inches wide.

The motif is the humble cross-stitch, promoted from the sampler to the sofa: each X sits four-square in its own diamond window, green alternating with camel like a very good-natured game of tic-tac-toe in which everybody wins. At a 9-inch repeat the scale is generous — big enough to upholster, orderly enough to calm a room down. It has the charm of needlepoint and the work ethic of graph paper.
The pattern arrives with its own press clippings: House Beautiful photographed it for May 2015 (on ottomans, in a Krista Ewart room) and At Home put it on stools in summer 2010 — those are the photos above, shown in other colorways for scale.
