Persepolis was the ceremonial capital of the Persian Empire — not where the kings lived, but where they received: the city built expressly for arrival, for the moment of walking in and understanding, at a glance, whose house this was. The pattern that carries its name understands the assignment. A great medallion opens like a rose window crossed with a garden carpet — and that's the correct genealogy, because this is the Persian medallion tradition that Europe has been borrowing for five centuries, the same suzani-and-carpet geometry that launched a thousand lesser papers. This is the thing itself, hand-printed in the USA at full 27-inch ceremony.

The colorway is the diplomatic masterstroke: terracotta and blue — kiln fire and lapis, the two pigments of every great tiled portal from Isfahan to Samarkand — held on an almost-white ground with cream doing the quiet work between them. Persia by way of a very good drawing room. Look at the photographs: it flanks headboards, it warms a paneled study, it turns a hallway into a reception. The 22-by-27 repeat means each medallion arrives whole, at scale, like a guest of rank.

Now the arithmetic of desire, stated plainly because this pattern is popular and the popular ones do not linger: fifteen yards remain, as three five-yard rolls — which at the five-yard minimum means this listing serves at most three buyers, and more likely one powder room of consequence and one accent wall that ends all conversation about the accent wall. Custom colorways receive no second printing. The empire, as history records, does not restock. Arrive accordingly.
