The photogram was invented three times: by Thomas Wedgwood in 1802, by William Henry Fox Talbot in the 1830s, and again by Man Ray in 1921, who called his version a "rayograph" and pretended the previous two hadn't happened. All three discovered the same thing: that the most honest portrait of a leaf, a branch, a flower, is not a drawing of it but its shadow. The object held against light-sensitive paper and exposed. Presence recorded as absence.
Happy Garden Background is a single-screen print — one pull, one color, one gesture. White botanical silhouettes on custom brown tinted Belgian linen-cotton ground. The garden is not illustrated. It is implied.
26 yards available in two 13-yard pieces, same dyelot. 41-inch repeat. 46½ inches wide.
It is called a Background. We invite you to try putting something in front of it.
