Paradise Background is Quadrille's chinoiserie with the volume turned all the way up. The word "background" in the name is a misdirection — this is not a quiet pattern. It is a forty-inch vertical repeat of flowering branches, exotic birds, and the lush, tangled garden vocabulary that European decorators have been borrowing from Chinese export painting since the seventeenth century, when the Dutch East India Company started shipping painted wallpapers and porcelains westward and an entire continent lost its mind. The "background" refers to the design structure: this is the allover ground pattern from the larger Paradise Garden composition, isolated and printed on its own so it fills the cloth edge to edge without the framing elements. The result is immersive — less a fabric and more an environment. You don't put Paradise Background on a pillow. You put it on the walls of a room and let it swallow you.

Custom pistachio green on tinted linen is the colorway that makes the chinoiserie feel contemporary rather than curatorial. Pistachio is green with yellow in it — warmer and livelier than sage, cooler and stranger than chartreuse — and on a tinted ground the whole composition glows like sunlight through leaves. The room photographs confirm what six yards on curtain-weight linen suggests: this is drapery fabric. Six yards at fifty-three inches is a pair of full-length panels for a standard window, and in a forty-inch repeat with this much visual density, the curtains become the room.
