Quadrille Fabric: Malaya - Custom Zibby Blue on White Belgian Linen / Cotton

I am not the ikat you think I am. Most ikats want to be geometric — diamonds, chevrons, things that tile. I wanted to be weather. My motifs are swirls and soft medallions that bleed at the edges the way actual clouds do when you stop pretending they have outlines, printed in a blue that Quadrille calls Zibby — a name that sounds like someone's favorite aunt at a house on the Vineyard, which is probably not far from the truth. I'm 55% Belgian linen, 45% cotton, handprinted in America, and my repeat is 14½ inches vertical — long enough to give each medallion room to breathe, short enough to read as rhythm rather than event. On white ground, in this blue, I am the pattern for the room where you want to feel like it's always the good part of a Saturday morning.

Six yards of 54-inch cloth — enough for a pair of full-length curtain panels or a sofa that will make the rest of the room wonder what it's been doing with its life. This is a custom colorway being moved from the main Quadrille collection, which means it was printed to someone's specification at full price and is now here at a fraction of that, which is either a stroke of luck or the universe clearing its throat to get your attention. Zibby Blue on white Belgian linen is the kind of combination that decorators describe to each other in whispered proper nouns. The real Zibby was someone who walked through the door maybe thirty years ago and left her name on a color that outlasted everything else about the transaction. Once this piece sells, the colorway is gone. The name will linger. The fabric won't.
