The polka dot has survived every attempt to kill it. Dismissed as juvenile, revived as chic, dressed down for kitchens and dressed up for Dior—it simply refuses to leave. Charade is China Seas' contribution to this persistence: a bold red dot on tinted linen/cotton, scaled large enough to read as graphic rather than precious. The name suggests something playful, a pattern that isn't quite what it seems. And it isn't: look closer and the dots have the soft edge of hand-screening, each one pressed through mesh rather than printed by machine. They're not perfectly identical. They're not supposed to be.

At 1 yard and change, this is pillow territory—one good 20-inch square with fabric to spare for welting, or a pair of smaller lumbar cushions if you cut carefully. The 3" repeat and 52" width make the math simple. Red on tint reads warm without reading loud; it's the dot that coordinates rather than competes. Belgian linen/cotton woven near Kortrijk, handprinted in the USA, priced to move. At $38, this is the yard sale bin doing you a favor. Someone's going to realize they needed exactly this much red dot. Might as well be you.
