China Seas Fabric: Ames Houndstooth - Custom Red on Tinted Belgian Linen / Cotton

The houndstooth check was invented in the Scottish Lowlands as a shepherd's plaid — a pattern small enough to weave on a cottage loom and busy enough to hide a season's worth of weather. China Seas took the tooth and broke the jaw. Ames Houndstooth is scaled to six inches, hand-screened on Belgian linen-cotton, and at this size every interlocking form reads as architecture rather than tailoring. The pattern that spent two centuries hiding on the inside of men's sport coats has been let outside and given a room to fill. Two yards at 48" is one statement pillow with enough left over for a second that you'll wish you'd made first.

Custom Red means someone walked into the Quadrille studio and said the word "red" and meant it. This is not cranberry, not brick, not any red that has been talked into calming down. Against the tinted linen ground it lands the way red nail polish lands on a hand that otherwise isn't trying — the whole composition goes from textile to opinion. Two yards of an opinion this specific does not come around twice.
