China Seas Fabric: New Batik - Custom French Blue / New Navy on White Belgian Linen / Cotton

They called me New Batik in 1968 and the name has not aged particularly well. There is nothing new about batik. There is nothing new about indigo. There is nothing new about the geometry of a medallion that has been resolving itself toward perfection since before anyone was keeping records.

What is new, if you insist: this specific French blue, this specific navy, on white Belgian linen-cotton, 52 inches wide, handprinted in America. That part is current. Everything the pattern knows, however, it learned somewhere older.

I have been in every kind of room. Chairs, curtains, walls, beds. I do not have a preferred application.

There is one yard of me left. Which is exactly enough for a pillow that will outlast the sofa it sits on.
