China Seas Fabric: Sigourney - Custom Taupe on White Belgian Linen / Cotton

Sigourney is the China Seas pattern that designers specify without thinking about it — the way you reach for salt before tasting. It is the company's bestseller and has been for years, which is a remarkable thing for a large-scale abstract floral that breaks most of the rules of what "commercial" is supposed to look like. The design has no symmetry, no grid, no orderly repeat structure you can predict from one motif to the next. What it has instead is a looseness that reads as hand-drawn because it is — oversized blooms and leaves scattered across the cloth with the confident asymmetry of someone sketching from a garden rather than copying a pattern book.
