Quadrille Fabric: Victoria - Custom Apricot on Tinted 100% Linen

Victoria is a damask that has stopped pretending. The form is among the oldest in the Western decorative canon — silk-woven in medieval Damascus, codified in Renaissance Italy, embalmed in a thousand Victorian parlors — but Quadrille’s version redraws it in hand-screened linework with the looseness of a sketch, as if the pattern had decided that after eight centuries of formality it had earned the right to relax. Victoria claims the name honors not the queen but the era’s habit of putting damask everywhere and meaning it nowhere; this print means it. Charlotte Moss ran it up as curtains and pillows in Traditional Home in January 2019, which is roughly what a knighthood looks like in this trade.

This cut is a custom colorway — Apricot on Tint, lot J40479 A — which means it was struck for someone with a specific room and a specific light in mind, and exists in quantities that will not recur. Nine yards of 54” linen are on hand, with a forgiving 14” repeat in both directions: enough for a pair of generous curtain panels, a settee, or an armchair with pillows to spare. Handprinted in the USA on Belgian-woven ground. When a custom apricot is gone, it is gone the way a vintage is gone.
