China Seas Fabric: Montego - Custom Pink on Tinted Belgian Linen / Cotton

Pink has a credibility problem in serious interiors. Too sweet, too trendy, too tied to whatever color-of-the-year marketing decided was going to move product this season. But this particular pale pink - printed on Belgian linen-cotton ground in a clean zigzag geometric - doesn’t behave like decorative pink. It behaves like a neutral that happens to have warmth. The room in our installation photo proves it: antique furniture, gilt mirror, gallery wall of framed prints, and a sofa upholstered in this pattern that looks like it’s been there for twenty years and will stay for twenty more. That’s what happens when you combine a sophisticated colorway with a pattern that has enough structure to read as geometry, not whimsy.

This is Montego from China Seas, and the allover repeat means there’s no vertical pattern repeat to match - which translates directly to less waste and simpler upholstery planning. Fourteen yards at 53 inches wide gives you real range: a substantial sofa with enough left over for throw pillows, or a pair of large club chairs with a coordinating ottoman, or the kind of upholstered headboard and window seat combination that makes a bedroom feel finished. The linen-cotton blend has enough body to upholster cleanly without feeling stiff, and the Belgian ground means the hand is right - not the papery thinness you get from cheaper bases.
