Ziggurat — Custom Brown on Tinted Belgian Linen/Cotton
A proper ziggurat rises in monumental terraces toward the heavens.
This one has been flattened, repeated, hand printed, and made considerably more useful for upholstery.
Ziggurat is a field of concentric, slightly wandering squares: part ancient ground plan, part modernist maze, part doodle made during a meeting that should have been an email. The geometry is disciplined without becoming rigid. Every line seems to know where it is going, although another pattern told us that several have been circling the inner square since approximately 2100 BCE.
The color is described, with unusual honesty, as Custom Brown. On the tinted Belgian linen/cotton ground, it becomes warmer and more interesting than the name suggests—earthy, architectural, and particularly good with wicker, old wood, orange, grey, cream, and rooms containing at least one lamp with opinions.
Only five yards remain.
That is enough for one excellent chair, a bench, a substantial group of cushions, or another carefully measured small project. It is not enough to build an actual ziggurat, establish a city-state, or begin receiving offerings of barley.
Fortunately, the fabric is much easier to live with.
