Persepolis was the ceremonial capital of the Achaemenid Empire, which is another way of saying it was the place where extraordinary things were made to impress people who had already seen everything. This medallion pattern carries that energy without apology. The center radiates outward through concentric rings of increasingly intricate geometry - red to burgundy to purple, each layer doing its own structural work, the whole composition held together by a discipline that took centuries to develop.
