Alan Campbell named me after a palace.
The Potala Palace in Lhasa — thirteen stories of whitewashed stone built into a mountain at 12,000 feet, home to the Dalai Lamas for three centuries, the kind of architecture that makes everything around it look provisional. Campbell took that reference and made it a floral. Not the mountain. Not the stone. The feeling of something built to last at altitude, in weather, without apology.
Multi blues on white Suncloth, 45 inches wide, 25-inch repeat, 100% acrylic printed in America on American ground. Which means I go outside. Rain, sun, the full biography of a terrace or a porch or a garden room that doesn't close in October.
A family mill in New England printed me. Their color kitchen mixed these blues specifically - the aqua, the navy, the grey-blue that sits between them like a considered pause.
Thirteen yards. The palace is still standing.
