Ferns is Alan Campbell at his most confident. The pattern takes a single botanical form — the unfurling frond — and blows it up to a scale where it stops being decoration and starts being drawing. At eighteen inches of vertical repeat on fifty-four-inch goods, these are not the polite ferns of a Victorian parlor print. Custom turquoise and beige on a tinted Belgian linen-cotton ground is the colorway that makes this pattern make sense.
