Lyford Diamond Bamboo takes its name from where you think it does - a private club on the western tip of New Providence, Nassau, where the houses are set back behind coral stone walls and the decorating has always leaned toward exactly this: lattice, bamboo, the geometry of a garden trellis rendered in fabric and carried indoors. The pattern is a diamond grid made of stylized bamboo, open and airy, with the kind of tight repeat — four and a half inches — that tiles seamlessly across any width of upholstery or drapery without a pattern-matching headache. It is one of those China Seas designs that has been quietly specifying itself into beach houses, island bedrooms, and Palm Beach sitting rooms for decades.
Custom New Shrimp on white 100% linen is the colorway that earns the name. Shrimp is Quadrille's word for a coral that has been talked down from the ledge — pinker than terra cotta, warmer than salmon, and considerably more sophisticated than anything you'd call "pink" to its face. On a clean white ground it reads as trellis work with light behind it, which is exactly what lattice is supposed to do. Fifteen yards on fifty-two-inch Belgian linen-cotton, hand-printed in the USA. That's enough for a full set of curtain panels or a bedroom's worth of pillows and a headboard — and in a custom colorway that won't come back around once it's gone.
